What is Droid Explorer

It is a Windows program that provides a GUI interface to the Android SDK.

How do I get it?

Visit the Droid Explorer homepage.

Install First

Motorola USB drivers

Install Droid Explorer

Unzip the file and run the installer.

You need to be connected to the internet when you install Droid Explorer. It will download the Android SDK and install it as part of the process.

Installing Apps

  • Copy the apk file you want to install to your computer.
  • Run Droid Explorer
  • Go to Menu->Settings->Applications->Development check the box for USB debugging on your phone
  • Connect your phone with the usb cable
  • Select "Charge Only"
  • In the Droid Explorer window click refresh
  • When you see your phone connected click connect
  • Droid Explorer will eventually show an explorer like window with the contents of your phone on the left
  • Click on Tools
  • in the drop down menu click on Manage Packages
  • in the menu that opens click on Install Package
  • navigate to the package you want to install, highlight it, and click open
  • a window will open showing info about the package
  • click Install or Cancel
