Menu->Add takes you to:

You can also access this menu with a long tap on an empty area of any of your home screens.
Shortcuts and widgets are placed on the current screen. In other words on the screen under the menu.

Adding a Shortcut

Menu->Add->Shortcuts takes you to this screen:

Here you select the type of shortcut you want to add.

Applications

Selecting Applications will bring up a list of the applications on the phone. you can then tap the application that you want a shortcut to.

You can also add shortcuts to start an application by long pressing that icon for that application in the apps tray. If you continue to press on the icon after the apps tray closes you can position the icon where you want - even on a different screen than the one you are currently on.

Bookmark

If you select Bookmark you will be shown a list of the bookmarks in the standard browsers bookmark file. Selecting one will place a shortcut to that site on the screen.

Contact

Selecting Contact brings up the contact list. You can narrow the search by selecting a group using the drop-down at the top of the screen. You can also start typing on the virtual keyboard or physical keyboard to search for a contact.

Once you have found the contact you want tap on it. If you have a picture associated with the contact it will display on the screen with the contact name below it. If you do not have a picture you will see a generic contact with the name.

Tapping on a contact shortcut opens the entry for that person in your contact list.

Applications that you install may add to the list of shortcut types available.

Add Widgets

Menu->Add->Widgets takes you to:

This is a list of the widgets available on your phone. Select the one you want to place on the screen by tapping the name.

When some widgets are placed they may open a configuration window.

Folders

Menu->Add->Folders takes you to:

New Folder

Menu->Add->Folders->New Folder

Selecting New Folder places a folder icon on the screen with the name Folder.

This is an empty folder. Tap it to open it:

Long press on the title bar of the folder and you will see:

Open the physical keyboard or tap in the name field to enter a new name for the folder:

You can create folders to hold groups of shortcuts that are related.
Below is a folder with battery related shortcuts in it.

All contacts

Menu->Add->Folders->All contacts

Just like the menu entry says this will put a folder on the screen that contains all of your contacts. Open the folder and tap on a contact to view the contact information for that person.

Favorites

Menu->Add->Folders->Favorites

This adds a folder on the screen that contains the contacts in your favorites list. This folder syncs with contacts favorites list. Removing a contact from your favorites list in the contacts removes them from the folder.

Open the folder and tap on the contact to display the contact information for that person.

Pictures are not displayed in the folder.

Phone Numbers

Menu->Add->Folders->Phone Numbers

This adds a folder with an entry for every phone number in your contact list. Contacts with no phone number do not show up. Contacts with multiple phone numbers show up once for each phone number that is in your contact information for them.

Open the folder and tap a listing to open the contact page associated with that person.

Recent

Menu->Add->Folders->Recent

This adds a folder that shows your recent calls to people in your contact list.

Open the folder and tap an entry to view the contact information for that person.

Statuses

Menu->Add->Folders->Statuses

Adds a folder to the screen named Statuses.

Wallpapers

Menu->Wallaper takes you to the same sub-menu.

Menu->Add->Wallpapers doesn't actually add anything to the home screen, it allows you to change the background picture (wallpaper) of the home screens. You will see:

Select the source you want to use for a wallpaper and then select the image you want to use. You will then see:

The selection box can be re-sized by dragging a corner or one edge and can be repositioned by dragging it with your finger inside the box.

Once you have the selection box the desired size and location you want it and tap the check mark to set the image as your wallpaper. Tapping the X cancels the operation.

When trying to maximize the selection I have the best luck when I move the entire selection box to one corner by dragging it and then dragging the opposite corner in one motion as far as I can.
