Changes

  • The tab for speed dial in the native dialer app is now just for assigning a contact to a number.
  • You can only assign 8 speed dial numbers
  • To dial a contact you long press on the number that you assigned to them on the dial pad

Advantages

  • Once you assign a number to a contact you don't have to visit the speed dial tab again, open the dialer and long press the number for that contact
  • Works the same as speed dial (number 1 in the dial pad) for voice mail

Disadvantages

  • Only 8 speed dial entries
  • Can not dial from the speed dial tab

Assigning a Speed Dial number

Method One

  • Open the dialer
  • Tap the speed dial tab
  • Tap an empty speed dial slot
  • Select a contact from the contact list that pops up
  • If the contact has more than on phone number listed, choose the number from the list

Method two

Long press on the number that has no contact assigned to it in the dial pad. A dialog will pop up asking if you want to assign a contact to the number. Tap OK and you will be taken to a screen to choose a contact.

Delete a number from speed dial

  • Open the dialer
  • Tap the speed dial tab
  • Tap the minus sign (dash) at the right of the entry you want to delete
  • There is no prompt to confirm deletion of the entry
